Amanda Healan, PhD is a versatile, experienced science communicator. She creates content for all audiences, and particularly enjoys making complex topics accessible to the public.

Her work is across the web, and in press releases, research papers, user guides, interpretive signs, lesson plans, instructional films, and other media. Dr. Healan’s engaging and warm style inspires. She is known for her thoughtful presence and a voice that cuts through a crowd with unvarnished honesty. Dr. Healan also regularly mentors young scientists. She has volunteered her time at state science fairs, nature camps, K-12 schools, as an advisor for college and graduate students, and with TWiSTER (Tennessee Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Research). Prior to launching her own business in 2015, Dr. Healan worked for over ten years in academia. She earned her doctorate in Microbial Pathogenesis from The Ohio State University and her bachelor's degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is a member of the American Medical Writers Association and a certified Tennessee Naturalist.
